Music
Play music while you browse your library.
RetroVoid has a built-in music player that lets you listen to your own music while browsing your game library. Upload songs, build a playlist, and control playback from anywhere in the app.
Supported Formats
| Format | Extension |
|---|---|
| MP3 | .mp3 |
| WAV | .wav |
| FLAC | .flac |
| AAC | .aac |
| OGG | .ogg |
| M4A | .m4a |
| AIFF | .aiff, .aif |
Note: On Windows, AIFF, ALAC, and M4A files are automatically transcoded to WAV for compatibility.
Adding Music
- Open Settings > Music.
- Click Add Songs to open the file picker.
- Select one or more audio files. They'll be imported into your playlist.
RetroVoid automatically extracts metadata (title, artist, album, duration) from your files. If metadata isn't available, the filename is used as the track title.
Playback Controls
The music player provides standard playback controls:
- Play / Pause: start or pause the current track
- Skip Next: jump to the next track in the playlist
- Skip Previous: go back to the previous track (or restart the current track if more than 3 seconds in)
- Volume: adjust with the volume slider (mute indicator at zero)
Repeat Modes
Cycle through three repeat modes:
- Off: playback stops after the last track
- All: loop the entire playlist continuously
- One: repeat the current track indefinitely
Shuffle
Toggle shuffle to randomize playback order. When enabled, the playlist is shuffled using a randomized queue. A new random order is generated each time the playlist loops.
Playlist Management
In Settings > Music, you can manage your playlist:
- Reorder tracks by dragging and dropping them into your preferred order
- Edit metadata: click on a track to edit its title, artist, or album inline
- Delete tracks: remove individual tracks from your playlist
Mini Player
A compact Now Playing mini player is available in the Quick Settings panel (the slide-out panel on the right side of the app). It shows the current track info, a seek bar, and all playback controls, so you can manage your music without leaving your library.
Auto-Play on Launch
Enable Auto-play on Launch in Settings > Music > Playback Settings to start your music automatically when RetroVoid opens.
Game Launch Behavior
Music automatically pauses when you launch a game and resumes when the game closes. No configuration needed.
